My Comedy

If I had three words to describe my comedy style they’d be: bold, thoughtful, and irreverent.

My work is mostly autobiographical, and ranges in subject from code-switching to gang encounters.

I perform all over DC, MD and VA. And sometimes NYC.

About me

I’m Bahlya Yansané (pronounced Ba-lee-yah Yan-suh-nay). I’m a stand-up comedian, writer, and producer. You’ll probably get my name right by our third interaction.

I started my comedy career at Upright Citizens Brigade, The Peoples Improv Theatre, and Brooklyn Comedy Collective.

Now, I perform all over New York and host two monthly shows.

  • They Were Nice to Me: A stand-up comedy show.

  • Anything But Stand-Up: A comedy variety show featuring improv, sketch, characters, storytelling, and musical comedy
